At Oakridge Junior School, we support Hampshire’s Junior Road Safety Officers (JRSOs) initiative.
Our Junior Road Safety Officers (JRSOs), Rose (Year 6) and Euan (Year 5), will lead on promoting road safety in a fun way; they will be supported by a small team of year 6 children (Ruby, Malak, Adonia and Marnie) and Mrs Cameron.
This initiative gives our children the opportunity to lead on promoting road safety to their school community while getting serious road safety messages across. Activities carried out include:
Be bright dress up days
Competition to design a road safety mascot
Fun activities to ensure the road safety message
Rose has attended the Annual Road Safety Conference in October, which is organised by Hampshire County Council. On her return to school she has shared her knowledge with the rest of her team and the school.

Railway Safety KS2 (wb 21st January 2019)
We received a call from Network Rail as there were some school age children trespassing the railway lines over the weekend. They asked us to speak to our pupils and show the following video to highlight the dangers of trespassing on the railway line.
During our assembly we watched the video and discussed the dangers associated with railway lines. We thoroughly enjoyed the song at the end of the video.
