At Oakridge Junior School, we support Hampshire’s Junior Road Safety Officers (JRSOs) initiative.

Our Junior Road Safety Officers (JRSOs), Euan (Yr 6) and Alisha (Yr 5) lead on promoting road safety in a fun way; they are supported by Mrs Cameron.

This initiative gives our children the opportunity to lead on promoting road safety to their school community while getting serious road safety messages across.  Activities carried out include:

  • Be bright dress up days

  • Competition to design a road safety mascot

  • Fun activities to ensure the road safety message

Alisha has recently attend training (Feb 2020) organised by Hampshire County Council. She will work alongside Euan who has been a JRSO for about a year now.

Railway Safety KS2

We received a call from Network Rail as there were some school age children trespassing the railway lines over the weekend.  They asked us to speak to our pupils and show the following video to highlight the dangers of trespassing on the railway line.

During our assembly we watched the video and discussed the dangers associated with railway lines. We thoroughly enjoyed the song at the end of the video.

Be Bright Be Seen Day - Our first assembly delivered to the infants. We taught them the importance of dressing brightly to be seen especially as the evenings get darker.

Time To Shine Day - assembly no.2 at the juniors
