This week in maths we will be continuing to apply our counting in 2s, 10s and 5s. We will be beginning to look at multiplication as repeated addition. For example 3 pairs of socks could be seen as 3 groups of 2 and written as 2 + 2 + 2.
It would be really helpful if your child has access to paper and pencils as well as some small parts that can be used for grouping and counting e.g. counters, pasta, dried beans, lego bricks, paperclips or anything else small but similar in size and shape. When counting the groups please encourage your child to count in 2s, 5s or 10s rather than counting objects individually.
Today you will need small objects to group and count.
For today's lesson you will need numberlines - whether you print off the sheet below or draw it out is up to you.
In today's lesson, I will be encouraging the children to look for arrays around the home, for example egg boxes, fruit packaging, lego bricks etc.
