In our nursery, Miss King is the teacher. She is supported by our nursery team: Mrs Copage, Miss Evans, Mrs Molina Parada, Miss Smith and Mrs Stockdale.

If you have any questions, please get in touch with your child's key person. If they are not around at pick-up, you can speak to them by phoning the school office and requesting an appointment, or speak to another member of the team.

Nursery Autumn 1 Curriculum Newsletter

Update – Friday 18th September 2026

This week, the children have continued to enjoy exploring our shapes and colours topic through a variety of fun and engaging activities.

Our book of the week has been Mix It Up!, which has encouraged the children to investigate colour mixing and discover how combining colours can create something new. We have explored this through sensory activities, including using paint under cling film, experimenting with rollers and mixing paint with our hands.

In the maths area, the children have been developing their counting skills and practising number recognition by matching numbers. We have also been encouraging creativity and early writing skills in the mark-making area through scribble-scrabble drawings.

Our song of the week has been Five Little Monkeys. We have enjoyed exploring both versions of the song, Five Little Monkeys Swinging in the Tree and Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed. The children have extended their learning through imaginative play, using props to act out and explore the songs. We have also been focusing on the ‘a’ sound during our phonics sessions.

Update – Friday 11th September 2026

This week, the children have continued to become more confident and comfortable in the nursery environment. They are becoming more familiar with the different areas and are showing increasing independence when choosing where they would like to play.

Our story this week has been The Colour Monster, which has given the children lots of opportunities to talk about their emotions and recognise how they are feeling. We have also been focusing on the ‘S’ sound during our phonics sessions.

Through activities inspired by The Colour Monster, the children have been exploring different feelings and the colours associated with them. We talked about how blue can represent sadness, pink can represent love and yellow can represent happiness. The children shared their own experiences and discussed what makes them feel different emotions. They also enjoyed creating their own emotion jars, inspired by the jars shown at the end of the story, and colouring in the different Colour Monsters.

In the maths area, the children have been developing their shape recognition by matching and identifying different shapes. In the small-world area, they have continued to use their imagination by selecting resources from the shelves and creating their own stories and games with them.

Outside in the garden, the children enjoyed exploring the sand pit and taking part in a colour-matching activity using the tough tray. They also had lots of fun investigating different textures in the messy tray. They used their hands to mix shaving foam, sand and water together, exploring how the different materials felt and changed when combined.

Update - Friday 4th September 2026

Welcome to the First Week of a Fantastic New Term!

It has been a wonderful first week in the Nursery as we’ve focused on helping the children settle in, bond with our team, and get to know their new environment.

We are already so impressed by how well everyone is adjusting; even our newest starters are growing in confidence every day!

This Week’s Highlights & Progress:

Growing Independence: The children are learning our daily routines, like finding their lockers at home time and putting away their own water bottles.

Exploring & Meeting the Team: Room exploration is in full swing, and the children have enjoyed meeting all the adults supporting them this year, including our sports coaches – Jordan, James, Charlotte and Rosie.

Mastering Lunchtime Routines: We are focusing on mealtimes by practising handwashing, finding our own lunchboxes, and sitting together to enjoy our food.
