Year 4 - Eastrop & Black Dam Walk

On Monday 19th January, Year started their new geography unit, Winding Rivers, Misty Mountains. As part of this learning, pupils took part in a local fieldwork visit to Eastrop to explore the River Loddon.

.

During the visit, pupils completed a range of hands-on activities to develop their geographical enquiry skills. These included measuring the width and depth of the river, identifying evidence of local wildlife, and drawing a cross-section of the river. Pupils also enjoyed taking part in a game of Poohsticks, which helped them to observe the speed and flow of the river and notice how this varied across different parts of the channel.

The fieldwork provided a valuable opportunity for pupils to apply their classroom learning in a real-world context and deepen their understanding of river features and processes.
